‘Fringe’ Alum Seth Gabel to Star in WGN America’s First Scripted Series ‘Salem’

FRINGE Neither Here Nor There Season 4 Premiere (3)

Actor Seth Gabel quickly became a fan favorite to countless TV viewers through his role of Lincoln Lee on the recently departed FOX sci-fi drama ‘Fringe’; and now he will be getting his shot at a leading role in the first scripted series from basic cable and satellite TV channel WGN America, which is the only remaining U.S. superstation to be distributed nationally through both cable and satellite TV.

The Tribune Broadcasting owned channel has teamed with Brannon Braga (‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’), Adam Simon, Richard Shepard and Fox21 on Salem, a period piece drama that will be set “in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, exploring what really fueled the town’s infamous witch trials”.

Gabel will play Cotton Mather, a local aristocrat who makes it his business to oversee the witch hunts in Salem.

Prior to his time on ‘Fringe’, Gabel appeared in the short-lived prime-time soap ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ as well as episodes of ‘Nip/Tuck’ and ‘United States of Tara’. He also had a memorable role in two episodes of the new hit CW series ‘Arrow’.

There are no further details on when ‘Salem’ will air, however.
