Oscar Winner Halle Berry to Star in CBS Drama Series ‘Extant’

Halle Berry NEW

Next summer will find award-winning actress Halle Berry coming to the small screen for the first time since the 1990’s when (among others) she appeared in the made-for-TV movie ‘Queen’. That new project is the straight-to-series drama Extant that comes from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios that will air next summer.

‘Extant’ will find Berry playing an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space who tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

Of course, Berry won an Oscar for her role in the box office film ‘Monster’s Ball’ as well as an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award for her critically praised performance in the HBO movie ‘Introducing Dorothy Dandridge’. Movie goers also know she has starred in the ‘X-Men’ franchise, the James Bond film ‘Die Another Day’ and the 2013 film ‘The Call’ [among countless other films].

Berry had this to say about ‘Extant’, “I’m always on the lookout for amazing roles and when you see material that contains this strong of auspices, nuance and complexity it compels me to run toward it no matter the medium. For five months a year I’ll get to live with and play this incredibly intelligent and vulnerable woman, and for the remainder of the year I’ll continue to look for other roles that move me as deeply as this one.

‘Extant’ is a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television from a script co-written by Steven Spielberg, Greg Walker and Mickey Fisher with Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank and, of course, Berry, serving as executive producers.
