Cap’n Nathan Fillion is Heading to ‘Community’ Season 5 for a Guest Spot October 4, 2013 ABC, Community, News Cult fandoms are colliding. Deadline reports Nathan Fillion, best known for his roles as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly and Rick Castle in Castle, is heading to Greendale for a guest spot in Community season five. Fillion will take on the role of head custodian Bob Waite, a man who will encounter Annie and Professor Hickey (guest star Jonathan Banks) as they set out to examine the power system within the halls of Greendale. (And why wouldn’t the Cap’n be on top?) Fillion is a long-time fan of Community, and last year he visited the set. He posted a photo on Twitter accompanied with the Tweet: “It’s my #community dream come true!” Chances are this will be even cooler for Fillion. In addition to Firefly and Castle, Fillion has been involved in a wealth of cult favorites including Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, Lost and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. NBC has yet to announce the premiere date for Community season five, but it is expected to debut midseason.
