David Tennant Set To Headline Fox’s American Version of ‘Broadchurch’

David Tennant - Broadchurch

Did you like David Tennant in the excellent British mystery series Broadchurch which currently completed its first season on BBC America? Good. Because Fox is hoping you will also like Tennant in their limited series version of Broadchurch. According to TV Guide, the main difference between Tennant’s tortured detectives will be that his American counterpart will be…well, American.

The role will reunite Tennant with Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall who will serve as an executive producer and write the first episode. Broadchurch proved to be a smash hit in the UK, earning the title of most-watched drama of 2013. The original series focused on the death of a young boy that rocked a small tourist town and the two detectives tasked with solving the case. The Fox version is set to follow the same basic plot.

Tennant is best known for his work as the 10th Doctor on Doctor Who, but he has starred in numerous projects including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Fright Night, Spies of Warsaw and Blackpool.

Production on Broadchurch season two is set to begin soon in The UK, while the Fox limited series will start shooting in 2014.
