ABC Producers Developing ‘Modern Family’ Spin-Off

Modern Family Season 4 Premiere Bringing up baby (1)

The ABC Network and producers behind the four time Emmy winning series Modern Family could be developing a spin-off of the comedy drama. Nothing is set in stone as producers are still in the early phases of development. According to Deadline, showrunners are currently said to be mapping out the possibilities that include one idea of a spin-off following Phil Dunphy’s (Ty Burrell) arch enemy Gil Thorpe, played by actor Rob Riggle.

As fans will remember, Riggle appeared in two episodes of ‘Modern Family’ as the obnoxiously successful real estate agent and former boss of Claire (Julie Bowen). The series’ producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh will pen the script for the possible off-shoot with executive producer Steve Levitan also slated to have a hand in the potential project.

Meanwhile, ‘Modern Family’ just entered into its fifth season on the ABC network after coming off of an Emmy win for Outstanding Comedy Series at last month’s annual awards ceremony. Will you be tuning into a ‘Family’ spin-off if the project gets off the ground? Is Rob Riggle a character that you would like to see get his own show? Leave us your comments below.

‘Modern Family’ airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m.
