IFC Announces ‘Garfunkel & Oates’ Series for 2014

The comedic musical duo of Garfunkel & Oates will be bringing their talents to IFC in a brand new series set to premiere in 2014 on IFC, the network announced today. Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci have carved out a niche for themselves in the music world with their cheerful and snark-filled folk songs, and fans of their music can look forward to more of the same in their new scripted series.

“We are huge fans of Riki and Kate; their humor is fresh and accessible and they’ll be a great fit alongside The Spoils of Babylon, Portlandia, Maron and other shows on the horizon,” said Jennifer Caserta, IFC’s president and general manager in a statement.

Season one of Garfunkel & Oates will consist of 10 half hour episodes following “the aspirations and misadventures of the female comedy-folk duo Lindhome (Garfunkel) and Micucci (Oates)” as they navigate their professional and personal lives. Unfortunately for the duo their particular brand of humor can tend to isolate them from their friends, leaving them with only each other for support.

Micucci’s previous television work includes stints on Raising Hope and The Big Bang Theory where she played Raj’s love interest Lucy. Meanwhile, Lindhome has appeared in Enlightened, Gilmore Girls and The Big Bang Theory, as well as the big screen thriller The Last House on the Left.
