‘Boardwalk Empire’ Season 5 Announced by HBO

Nobody puts Nucky in a corner, not even HBO.

The premium channel announced today that they have renewed gangster drama Boardwalk Empire for a fifth season, just a couple of weeks after the series’ September 8th, season four premiere. Also giving Boardwalk a boost, Bobby Cannavale walked away with Best Supporting Actor at Sunday’s 65th Primetime Emmy Awards.

“Thanks to Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Howard Korder and their stellar team, BOARDWALK EMPIRE remains in a class by itself,” said Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “I look forward to another electrifying season of this impeccably crafted series.”

Season four features Nucky facing a territory war with gangsters from Chicago, Harlem and New York City. Season five is expected to air in 2014.

Boardwalk Empire airs Sundays at 9PM on HBO.
