Emmy-Award Winning ‘The Hour’ Scribe’s New Drama ‘River’ Greenlit by BBC One September 24, 2013 BBC UK, News The Hour writer and creator Abi Morgan walked away with the Emmy for Best Writing in a Miniseries or TV Movie at Sunday’s ceremony, and now the in-demand writer has her next project, River, lined up at BBC One. The six-part police drama will focus on a Detective John River, a man whose devotion to his job is absolute, while his mind is fragile. “River is a fractured mind navigating a brutal world,” Morgan said in a statement. “And he does it wearing a police badge. I can’t think of a better home for it than the BBC. The chance to tell big stories in a bold way on a channel that embraces so many writers, directors and actors I admire and respect is a huge treat.” Casting news is set to be announced at a later date. River will premiere in 2015 on BBC One.
