The Hour writer and creator Abi Morgan walked away with the Emmy for Best Writing in a Miniseries or TV Movie at Sunday’s ceremony, and now the in-demand writer has her next project, River, lined up at BBC One. The six-part police drama will focus on a Detective John River, a man whose devotion to his job is absolute, while his mind is fragile.

River is a fractured mind navigating a brutal world,” Morgan said in a statement. “And he does it wearing a police badge. I can’t think of a better home for it than the BBC. The chance to tell big stories in a bold way on a channel that embraces so many writers, directors and actors I admire and respect is a huge treat.”

Casting news is set to be announced at a later date. River will premiere in 2015 on BBC One.
