‘King & Maxwell’ Cancelled by TNT

TNT has cancelled the crime drama King & Maxwell after one season. As confirmed by TV Line, TNT dropped the David Baldacci inspired series due to the show’s poor ratings. King & Maxwell’s debut attracted 3.5 million total viewers, averaging 3.1 million over its run, but slowly saw declining viewership.

The series bid farewell during its Aug. 12 finale and has since been replaced on TNT’s slate with Steven Bochco’s freshman series ‘Murder in the First’ starring Taye Diggs (Private Practice). The series is set to air next summer.

‘King & Maxwell’ starred actors Jon Tenney (The Closer) and Rebecca Romijn (X-Men: The Last Stand) in the lead as two former Secret Service agents turned private-eyes. The together the duo use their skills and expertise up against common day criminals in the civilian world. The series also starred Michael O’Keefe (Michael Clayton), Chris Butler (Rescue Dawn), Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse) and Ryan Hurst (Saving Private Ryan).

Meanwhile, TNT has yet to reveal the fate of the series Franklin & Bash. The network has however moved forward with the renewals of ‘Rizzoli & Isles’, ‘Major Crimes’, ‘Perception’ and ‘Falling Skies’.
