Spike TV Options Limited Event Series ‘Tut’

Spike TV

Limited event series (aka the TV mini-series) seem to be all the range right now with not only broadcast TV but also cable TV. That is obvious given the fact that Spike TV is jumping on the bandwagon with their scripted limited event series Tut that will take a look at the story of Tutankhamen, otherwise known as King Tut, who was the youngest Pharaoh to rule Ancient Egypt.

The cabler has just optioned the six-part, action-packed series, but if they give it the greenlight (meaning if they allow the project to go to series) it will combine the drama of power, political backstabbing, war and murder. The project is based on historical fact from DNA evidence recently unearthed that will capture King Tut’s fascinating rise to glory, his efforts to rule a chaotic empire and the enigma surrounding his untimely death.

MUSE Entertainment, the folks behind ‘The Kennedys’, ‘Pillars of the Earth’ and ‘Last Templar’ brought this project to Spike TV with Joel S. Rice and Michael Prupas (from MUSE) serving as executive producers. Mike Vickerman (‘Impact’) will also serve as executive producer and writer with Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige (creators of the new ABC Family ‘The Fosters’ also serving as writers.

Since this project is in the early stages of planning, there are no details available on casting, production or possible airdates yet.
