Marvel and ABC Planning Another Marvel Universe TV Series

Peggy Carter

Yep, not only does Marvel have their highly successful movie franchises (‘Iron Man’, ‘Thor’ and ‘The Avengers’ to name a few) but also this coming Tuesday (September 24) the new series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will debut on ABC. But it seems these two entities are not stopping there. A report first made at Deadline and then followed up at Entertainment Weekly confirms that another TV show set in the Marvel Universe – this one based on the character Peggy Carter from ‘Captain America’ is in the planning stages.

The potential new series – currently being dubbed Agent Carter, will focus on the superspy love interest of Steve Rogers (aka Captain America), but fans of the Marvel universe and TV fans in general should keep one thing in mind: this project is “under consideration” at the network and nothing is set in stone. That being said, though, should the project move forward it would be set in “the post-war era, offering Marvel the opportunity to bring in various bits of comic book arcana while avoiding any appearances by superheroes with expensive powers”.

At this time it is unclear if British actress Hayley Atwell – who played Peggy Carter in the first ‘Captain America’ film, and is anticipated to appear in the sequel in some capacity, will appear in this project or not. But since this project is just in the planning stages at the network, casting could be anyone’s guess.
