Cillian Murphy Gets His Gangster on in BBC Two’s ‘Peaky Blinders’ Trailer

Cillian Murphy takes on the role of the leader of a rag-tag group of British gangsters known for sewing razor blades into their caps in BBC Two’s new Peaky Blinders. The trailer for the six-part period drama gives the impression of a British Boardwalk Empire: a little grit, a little flash and a whole lot of swaggering gangsters, but the 1919 set series will take us deep into the heart of post-war Birmingham. The primary difference between Nucky’s gang and the Peaky Binders crew is that the Blinders are significantly younger than Nucky and friends, making their youthful proclamations that they’re “not scared of coppers” fall somewhere between scary and naive. In addition to Murphy (Inception), Peaky Blinders also stars Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Helen McCrory (The Queen), Annabelle Wallis (Snow White And The Huntsman), Iddo Goldberg (Secret Diary Of A Call Girl) and Charlie Creed-Miles (Nil By Mouth).

Peaky Blinders airs Thursday, September 12th at 9PM on BBC Two.
