Supernatural Chat: 5 Song Requests for Season 9

Supernatural - Taxi Driver

Hey there, Supernatural fans! Season 9 grows closer day by day and I don’t know about any of you, but one of the things I start to anticipate as a new season grows near is the prospect of more great music.

Music has always been a part of Supernatural – even if it seems like we don’t get quite as many classic rock songs as we used to – and I always wonder what new songs we’ll get to hear in the new season. To that end, I decided to make my own song requests for Season 9.

It wasn’t an easy list to come up with, first of all because so many good songs have already been played on the show, and secondly because it’s hard to put them into an exact category. On this series we’ve heard everything from classic rock songs by bands like AC/DC, to rock ballads by 80’s hair bands, to… well, Air Supply.

Full disclosure: I totally own Air Supply’s Greatest Hits and I had it on my iPod well before Supernatural was even on the air. So I’m not knocking Asia – just pointing out that our little show has had a lot of different type of music on it.

My list of song requests is pretty eclectic as well. It’s made up of songs that I personally like and/or feel like they could be a good match for the show.

“Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne

This song fits the show in so many ways. I mean come on, it’s Ozzy and how can you go wrong with Ozzy on a show like Supernatural? Also, when I hear this song, I start to think of crazy ideas like the boys being stuck on a train with demons or some other kind of monster. How cool would that be?

“Sister Christian” by Night Ranger

I have loved this song for many years (more than I’d care to admit, thank you very much) and I feel that the tone would work well on the show. I could see the soft, ballad-like intro playing during an emotional scene that builds to match the song’s powerful crescendo as it heads into the chorus.

“Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival

This song seems to fit Supernatural so well that I was surprised it wasn’t already used on the show. This one could totally be used at the end of an episode after the boys have overcome some fort of adversity and are driving along in the Impala enjoying their brief moment of victory.

“Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd

This song has a very haunting tune that I could easily hear playing on Supernatural. With the falling of the angels, I almost feel like I could hear it as the theme for that storyline. Then again, it is rather ghostly as well, so it would sound great in an episode where the boys are back to doing a good old fashioned ghost hunt.

“Feels Like the First Time” – Foreigner

You can’t go wrong with a combination like Foreigner and Supernatural, which is probably why we’ve heard the band before on the show. This song is basically about getting some action so I picture it being used if someone just so happens to be getting lucky in the back seat of the Impala. Maybe it’ll be Castiel’s turn this time.

Well, those are my picks for songs I’d love to hear in Supernatural Season 9, but what about you? Got any songs you’d like to hear on the show next season? Sound off in the comment below, I love hearing from you guys!
