‘The Lying Game’ Alum Allie Gonino Joins Cast of Sundance’s ‘The Red Road’

Over the course of the last few weeks, we have reported on the casting developments for the new, upcoming Sundance Channel drama series The Red Road [formerly known as ‘The Descendants’], including the announcement that ‘Game of Thrones’ alum Jason Momoa and ‘Off the Map’ alum Martin Henderson have both landed lead roles in the second scripted drama from the cable network.

Now, comes word from The Hollywood Reporter that actress Allie Gonino, best known for her role in the recent defunct ABC Family teen soap opera ‘The Lying Game’ has joined the cast of the six-episode series that will “revolve around a weathered sheriff struggling to keep his family together while policing two clashing communities: the folks in the small town in which he grew up and those in the neighboring Ramapo Mountains”.

Gonino will play Rachel, the eldest daughter of the “local cop (Henderson) struggling to keep his family together”. Gonino’s character has a “Romeo and Juliet-type relationship with a 16-year-old Native American from the neighboring mountains”.

Among her other TV credits are a recurring role on ’10 Things I Hate About You’, the short-lived comedy ‘Rita Rocks’ and appearances in Disney’s ‘Cory in the House’ and ‘The Suite Life on Deck’. She also recently appeared alongside ‘Lost Girl’ actress Emmanuelle Vaugier in the Lifetime made-for-TV movie ‘Hidden Away’.

‘The Red Road’ will be executive produced by Bridget Carpenter (‘Friday Night Lights’ and ‘Parenthood’), who will also serve as showrunner based on a script to be written by Aaron Guizikowski (‘Contraband’ and the upcoming box office film ‘Prisoners’). A decision has yet to be announced by the Sundance Channel as to when ‘The Red Road’ will air, however.
