New Doctor to be Announced Sunday in ‘Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor’ Half-Hour Special [+Video]

Get ready world, a new Doctor will soon be piloting the TARDIS and this Sunday we’ll know which lucky actor is set to play the iconic Time Lord’s 12th incarnation.

The announcement will be made live, August 4th at 2PM ET on BBCAmerica and BBC One during a half-hour special, Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor, set to include interviews with previous doctors, companions and celebrity fans– as well as the first interview with the latest Doctor. English radio and TV personality Zoe Ball will host the event , which will also feature interviews with current Doctor Matt Smith and lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat.

“The decision is made and the time has come to reveal who’s taking over the TARDIS,” Moffat said in a statement. “For the last of the Time Lords, the clock is striking twelve.”

Smith still has two episodes of Doctor Who left before Eleven regenerates into the next Doctor. He’ll be seen in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special airing Saturday, November 23rd (the Anniversary Special is set to be simulcast globally to avoid internet spoilers), and in the Christmas special which marks both Smith’s final appearance and the new actor’s first.
