Ellen DeGeneres To Host 2014 Oscars August 2, 2013 ABC, News Popular television personality Ellen DeGeneres will be hosting the 2014 Academy Awards. DeGeneres made the announcement herself this morning via Twitter with a healthy dose of her wry sense of humor: “It’s official: I’m hosting the #Oscars! I’d like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra.” This marks the second time DeGeneres has hosted the big event. The talk show host/comedian previously emceed the 2007 Oscar Ceremony. After funnyman Seth MacFarlane’s controversial hosting gig at the 2013 Oscars, Degeneres is sure to be a much safer and crowd-pleasing choice. Are you excited to see DeGeneres return as the Oscar host? The 2014 Academy Awards will air live March 2nd on ABC.
