Actor Martin Henderson to Star in Sundance Original Series ‘The Red Road’

ABC's "Off the Map" - Season One

A few weeks ago, we reported here that ‘Game of Thrones’ alum actor Jason Momoa had joined the cast of the upcoming Sundance Channel scripted series The Red Road [formerly known as ‘The Descendants’]. Now there is news that the straight-to-series drama – the second original scripted series for the cable network – has found its leading man in the form of actor Martin Henderson.

‘The Red Road’ is being described as a “hard-hitting drama that revolves around Harold Jensen (Henderson), a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring Ramapo Mountains, home of the Ramapo Mountain Indians”.

The cast also includes actress Julianne Nicholson (‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’), who will play the wife of Martin’s character.

TV viewers may recognize Henderson from his role on the short-lived medical drama ‘Off the Map’ or his earlier work in the Australian soap ‘Home and Away’, but movie goers will know him for his roles in films like ‘Windtalkers’, ‘The Ring’, ‘Torque’, ‘Bride & Prejudice’, ‘Smokin’ Aces’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’. He will soon be seen in the flick ‘Devil’s Knot’ alongside Mireille Enos (‘The Killing’), Resse Witherspoon and Colin Firth.

‘The Red Road’ has a six-episode order, but no official airdate has been announced by the Sundance Channel.
