‘Sherlock Holmes’ actress Kelly Reilly has been tapped to play the role of Dr. Elizabeth Black in ABC’s upcoming limited series, The Black Box. The 13-episode series will see Reilly in the lead role as a famous neuroscientist who’s carrying a dark secret. Black is both mentally ill and gifted, as she holds a special connection with her at The Center for Neurological Research and Treatment, aka “The Cube.”

‘The Black Box’ comes from writer Amy Holden Jones (Indecent Proposal). The series is slated to be directed by Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) with the help of producers Bold Films, Anne Thomopoulos, Bryan Singer, Ilene Chaiken and Oly Obst. The series is set to air sometime in 2014 on ABC.
Black brings with her credits that include the Academy Award nominated film ‘Flight’ opposite Denzel Washington, ‘Innocence’, ‘A Single Shot’, the TV series ‘Above Suspicion: Silent Scream’, ‘Citizen Gangster’, ‘Triage’, ‘Meant to Be’ and ‘Me and Orson Welles’.

The actress will appear next in the 2014 production ‘Heaven Is For Real’, a film that chronicles a boy’s visit to heaven following a near death experience. Black will star opposite Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine) and Jacob Vargas (Death Race).
