‘Sherlock’ Season 3: Danish Actor Lars Mikkelsen Takes On Role of Sherlock’s New Adversary July 29, 2013 News, Sherlock With Moriarty gone, a new nemesis will be challenging Sherlock in season three, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Sherlock producer Sue Vertue broke the news via Twitter earlier today: “Sherlock’s new nemesis – introducing Lars Mikkelsen as Charles Augustus Magnussen.” Mikkelsen is best known for his roles in the original Danish version of The Killing and Borgen, and he also happens to be Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen’s brother. Given his character’s name, it’s likely that Mikkelsen will be playing a version of Charles Augustus Milverton, who appeared in one of the 13 stories Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote post Sherlock’s supposed demise. What do you think of Sherlock’s new foe? Will he live up to Andrew Scott’s Moriarty? Sherlock is expected to air stateside on PBS in 2014.
