NBC’s Event Series Slate Includes Projects Focused on Hillary Clinton, Rosemary’s Baby and Pilgrims

NBC is expanding their event series slate to include miniseries based on the life of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Stephen King’s Tommyknockers, Ira Levin’s Rosemary’s Baby and a limited series based on the trials of the Pilgrims, entitled Plymouth. These projects come just weeks after NBC announced they would air the follow-up to History’s ratings records smashing The Bible miniseries.

Four-hour miniseries Hillary will star Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Under the Tuscan Sun) as the former Secretary of State and First Lady. Written and directed by Oscar nominee Courtney Hunt (Frozen River), the series will focus on Clinton’s life as a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member from 1998 to the present. Meanwhile, Rosemary’s Baby is set to be a four-part retelling of Ira Levin’s classic book. While the original tale was set in New York City, the series will move the demonic action to an apartment complex in Paris.

Stephen King’s Tommyknockers is based on the author’s 1987 novel about the residents of a small Maine town who are forced to deal with the possibility that an alien spacecraft has landed nearby. The series will be Executive Produced by Frank Konigsberg and Larry Sanitsky. Finally, the limited series Plymouth, will depict the Pilgrims’ perilous journey across the Atlantic and the difficulties they faced adjusting in a new country. The series comes from Mark Burnett Productions. Oscar (The Hellstrom Chronicle) and Emmy winner (NYPD Blue) Walon Green will write the project.
