‘ER’ Vet Parminder Nagra Joining New NBC Drama ‘The Blacklist’

When the new NBC drama The Blacklist debuts this fall, actress Parminder Nagra will be joining the cast as a series regular. She will be playing FBI agent Margot Malik, an “experienced agent who mentors rookie agent Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (series lead Megan Boone).

The focus of ‘The Blacklist’ is about ex-government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (the ever charismatic James Spader of ‘Boston Legal’ and ‘Stargate’ fame), who for decades has been one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives. But for whatever reason, Red surrenders himself to the agency but with an unusual offer: he will catch a long-thought-dead terrorist under one condition: he will only speak to FBI profiler Elizabeth Keen (the aforementioned Boone), who is fresh out of Quantico.

Therein lies the crux of the series, Red will work with the FBI on a list he calls “The Blacklist” that includes politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists who he help them bring down only if he can work with Elizabeth as his partner.

Nagra first came to the attention of audiences around the world thanks to the indie film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ and she followed that up with a role in the box office film ‘Ella Enchanted’ and then a leading role on the long-running medical drama ‘ER’. Since then she has appeared in the short-lived series ‘Alcatraz’ and had a recurring role on ‘Psych’.

‘The Blacklist’ will debut on NBC on Monday, September 23 at 10/9c.
