‘Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special’ to be Simulcast Around the World

Doctor Who Season 7 Episode 13 The Name of the Doctor (4)

The Doctor (and the BBC) will be putting the TARDIS to good use on Saturday, November 23rd, when the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special is simultaneously broadcast around the world in an attempt to avoid spoilers and piracy.

According to Radio Times, that will put the Doctor’s epic adventure airing at 7PM on BBC1, while West Coast American fans would catch the episode at 11AM on BBC America, with East Coasters watching at 2PM. Committed Australian fans meanwhile, will be watching the big event on Sunday at 6AM. The episode has been sold to more than 200 countries, with 100 million viewers expected to tune in, which could make the episode the biggest global drama telecast in history.

While most of the 50th Anniversary details–including the reportedly epic Comic-Con trailer–are being kept under wraps, we do know that Matt Smith and David Tennant’s doctors will come face to face, and several companions, including Rose (Billie Piper) will be on hand to battle the Daleks (again).

Once again, the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special will air Saturday, November 23rd on BBC America stateside. Check your local listings for the exact time for your area.
