The Simpsons Season 25 Panel [Comic Con 2013]

25 years is a long time for anyone to do anything. Yet somehow, Matt Groening and The Simpsons keep cranking out the seasons. The show popped by Comic-Con with a couple of its voice actors to take a lot of fan questions and show one awesome clip.

The panel opened with a couch gag from the upcoming Halloween special. It was directed by Guillermo Del Toro and is extremely elaborate. It’s a really impressive couch gag.

As usual, the show will feature a ton of guest stars for season 25. Kristin wig, Elizabeth Moss, and Stan Lee, are just a few of the names that will be coming to Springfield this season. Groening also teased a Simpsons/Futurama crossover episodes that will either air as this season’s finale or next season’s premiere. Continuing with the crossover theme, the show will continue to have lots of crossover with The Simpsons game “Tapped Out”.

When asked about a second movie, Groening responded by saying The Simpsons Movie 2 isn’t currently planned. He mentioned that it requires a ton of time investment from the people who are pulling double duty to pull off the TV show will making the movie at the same time. Groening said he would like to do it, but he doesn’t know when the time will be available.

One fan wondered how the show continues to come up with fresh ideas 25 years into it. Groening said the show has lots of writers from lots of different experiences who bring a lot of different ideas to the table.

In the middle of the panel and at the end, a Simpsons musical troupe came out to sing songs related to the series. It was bizarre to say the least, but their lyrics were spot on, and they a couple of amusing spots along the way. Regardless of how they choose to jazz up their panels, it’s just impressive that we’re still talking about a show after 25 years. It’s an incredible feat worth taking 45 minutes to celebrate.
