Syfy’s ‘Helix’ Cast Revealed and Spooky Comic-Con Reel Released [+ Video]

Syfy let loose lots of new information about their upcoming arctic pandemic series Helix from Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) at Comic-Con. The most important bit of news was the revealing of the cast. We already knew Billy Campbell landed the lead role, but EW reports that the rest of the cast will be rounded out by Hiroyuki Sanada (Revenge), Kyra Zagorsky (Falling Skies) and Mark Ghanimé (Emily Owens M.D.).

The Helix team also debuted a complete teaser for the series, and even though Helix seems to draw inspiration from everything from The X-Files to The Thing, the teaser itself still manages to be unnerving. We’ve got black goo, dead scientists and creatures lurking in the air vents. All that and it comes from Moore– it’s hard not to be optimistic about this series. Check out the creepy teaser below, along with a trailer that gives the definite impression this isn’t exactly going to be the feel-good series of the year. But if it lives up to its terrifying teasers, it could be one of the most entertaining.

Are you impressed by the brief glimpses of Helix we’ve seen so far?

Helix will premiere in 2014 on Syfy.
