Comic-Con 2013: ‘Legend of Korra Book 2: Spirits’ Premiere Date Revealed; New Trailer and Photos Released

Legend of Korra Book 2: Spirits has a premiere date and a full-length trailer (and a cool new poster, pictured above). The Legend of Korra co-creators and executive producers Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko announced during the series’ Friday Comic-Con panel that Book 2: Spirits will premiere September 2013 on Nickelodeon.

They also revealed a cadre of new characters and the star-studded cast that will be providing them with voices. Joining the series for Book 2 are James Remar (Dexter) as Tonraq, Korra’s father; Richard Riehle (Office Space) as Bumi, Tenzin’s brother; Lisa Edelstein (House) as Kya, Tenzin’s sister; Adrian LaTourelle (Sons of Anarchy) as Unalaq, Korra’s uncle; Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Recreation) as Eska, Unalaq’s daughter and Korra’s cousin; Aaron Himelstein (Joan of Arcadia) as Densa, Unalaq’s son and Korra’s cousin, and John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect) as Varrick, an eccentric capitalist.

Meanwhile The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun will guest voice as Wan, the first Avatar, in the season’s first two episodes. 10,000 years before Korra, Wan was a teenager and bender whose quest to bring balance between mankind and spirits led to him becoming the first Avatar. Check out a photo of Wan in the gallery below.

Book 2 will pick up six months after the end of Book 1. By then, Korra has rid Republic City of Amon and the Equalists, but new threat looms as the spirit and physical worlds threaten to collide. Watch the trailer below to see what’s ahead for Korra this September.
