‘Psych’ Musical Episode Premiere Date and Fan Chosen Season 8 Episode Announced [+ Video]

Psych Season 7 Episode 14 No Trout About It (5)

The Psych fans have spoken: it was announced yesterday (June 18th) during the hit series’ Comic-Con panel that the fan chosen season eight episode winner is “A Nightmare on State Street.” The episode, which garnered more than 50% of the fan votes online, is written and directed by star James Roday and will take viewers inside the mind of Gus (Dulé Hill) when he undergoes dream therapy to discover the cause of his night terrors.

That wasn’t the only big piece of news to come out of the Con, it was also announced that the Psych Musical Special will premiere Sunday, December 15, 2013. The episode will find Shawn and Gus diving into a world of dancing, singing and, of course, murder as they track down an escaped playwright/mad man, Z (Anthony Rapp, Rent), who was deemed criminally insane after he locked a critic in a back room of a theatre and burnt the place to the ground. To solve the case, Shawn and Gus will have to work with Z’s institution buddy, who they happen to know all too well, to unravel Z’s cryptic clues. Fans at Comic-Con were treated to a special screening of the episode Wednesday night.

Now for a little something for those who couldn’t make the trek out to San Diego: USA released a sneak peek of season eight (embedded below) including lots of one-liners, shocking returns and the promise of Gus in a Hogwarts uniform to look forward to.
