Actress Virginia Madsen to Appear on ‘Witches of East End’

The Event

Not that long ago we reported that both actors Jason George and Eric Winter have joined the cast of the new upcoming Lifetime drama Witches of East End. And now comes word of yet another casting announcement: that of actress Virginia Madsen joining the cast for a multi-episode arc.

Madsen, best known for her Oscar-winning role in the box office film ‘Sideways’, will appear as Penelope Gardiner, the mother of Eric Winter’s character Dash, who is the fiancé of Freya (series regular Jenna Dewan-Tatum), one of two daughters [the other being played by Rachel Boston of ‘In Plain Sight’ and ‘American Dreams’] of Joanna Beauchamp (series regular Julia Ormond of ‘Legends of the Fall’ fame), who both learn they are from a long line of witches.

The series, which received a 10-episode order this past January by the network, is based on the books by best-selling author Melissa de la Cruz and will be executive produced by Maggie Friedman, who was behind the short-lived (but similarly themed) ‘Eastwick’.

Among Madsen’s recent credits include the AMC western ‘Hell on Wheels’, the short-lived summer series ‘Scoundrels’ and the short-lived drama ‘The Event’. She has also appeared in the box office films ‘Red Riding Hood’, the mini-series ‘Hatfields & McCoys’ and the made-for-TV movie ‘Anna Nicole’.

Lifetime has yet to announce an official airdate for ‘Witches of East End’.
