‘NCIS’ Shocker: Series Lead Cote de Pablo Leaving After Season 11 Premiere

NCIS Season 10 Episode 4 Lost at Sea (7)

After eight years of starring as Ziva David on the long-running CBS procedural NCIS, actress Cote de Pablo will be leaving the show. This news comes as a bit of a shock to many of the show’s die-hard fans; the show does normally average over 20 million viewers nearly every week in its 10th season on the air after all.

According to a report at TV Line, de Pablo had this to share about her departure: “I’ve had eight great years with NCIS and Ziva David. I have huge respect and affection for Mark [Harmon], Gary [Glasberg], Michael [Weatherly], David [McCallum], Rocky [Carroll], Pauley [Perrette], Brian [Dietzen], Sean [Murray], all of the team and CBS. I look forward to finishing Ziva’s story”.

The actress, whose contract expired at the end of this past season, will be seen in the September 24 premiere episode, concluding her character’s story. Show runner Gary Glasberg had this to say, “I’m confident that things will work out, and we’ll present the best finale that we can and go from there”.

Obviously, de Pablo’s departure will create a hole in the cast and a sizeable wound to the audience who has been loyal to the series all these years. The new questions will be: who will fill that empty space on the ‘NCIS’ team and which actress will be cast to replace that void. Let the speculation begin.

In the meantime, fans can expect the season 11 premiere episode of ‘NCIS’ to air on CBS on Tuesday, September 24 at 8/7c.
