Starz’s ‘Outlander’ Casts Sam Heughan As Lead

Sam Heughan

Ron Moore’s (Battlestar Galactica) Outlander adaptation has found its Jamie.

The romantic Scotman from Diana Gabaldon’s hit book series will be brought to life by (real-life Scotsman) Sam Heughan, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Outlander revolves around married combat nurse Claire Randal, who mysteriously finds herself transported to 1743 where she can’t help but fall for the charming Scottish clan lord Jamie Fraser. As is the case with all charming rogues, THR points out that Jamie comes complete with a “complicated past and a disarming sense of humor.”

Heughan’s previous credits include stints on Britain’s Doctors, Party Animals and River City.

Now that the series has cast Jamie, who would like to see in the role of Claire?

Outlander is set to begin production in Scotland this fall for a 2014 debut on Starz.
