BBC Four Unveils ‘Burton and Taylor’ Trailer

“We’re addicts, Elizabeth, you and I,” a virtually unrecognizable Dominic West (The Hour) says in the trailer for the upcoming 90-minute drama Burton and Taylor.

West is taking on the iconic role of Richard Burton alongside co-star Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech), who likewise disappears into the role of film legend Elizabeth Taylor. The film finds Burton and Taylor in 1983, staging a revival of Noel Coward’s stage play, Private Lives, that has their fans flocking to see their tempestuous relationship play out onstage.

The short, but evocative trailer presents a classier affair than Lifetime’s recent attempt to capture the lovers’ complex relationship, but never fear, glasses are still thrown before the trailer ends.

Burton and Taylor is set to debut soon on BBC Four, and it will later premiere in Fall 2013 on BBC America.
