Miami Vice

Lion Forge Comics of St. Louis has announced their plans to resurrect five NBC series that were a hit among fans back in the 80’s. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lion Forge will launch the digital comic series based Knight Rider, Airwolf, Miami Vice, Punky Brewster and Saved by the Bell. They plan to release the resurrected series in the second half of the year.

The comics will be sold through Amazon’s Kindle Bookstore, Apple’s iBooks and Barnes & Noble’s Nook bookstore and Kobo. Creators behind the relaunch of the NBC series include television writers from the animated ‘Teen Titans’, ‘Ben 10’ and ‘Jackie Chan’. Artists Jason Johnson, Carl Reed and Lorenzo Lizana will also work on the string of new comics.
NBC Universal Television director Chris Lucero called the project a “a natural step for us as we continue to identify new ways to entertain our fans in the digital space.”

As for Lion Forge, the company’s CEO David Steward shared that the interest for the relaunch was due in part to the beloved characters. “From hugely popular characters such as Crockett and Tubbs, Zack Morris and Punky Brewster to highly stylized music and clothing choices.”

Lion Forge Comics plans to share additional details at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that will take place between July 17-21.
