Brat Packer Mare Winningham to Appear on ‘Under the Dome’

Coming off her Emmy-nominated appearance in the History Channel mini-series ‘Hatfields & McCoys’, actress Mare Winningham will be showing up in the new CBS drama ‘Under the Dome’ and, according to a report at TV Line, she could very well be a bit “malevolent” (and given that the show is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, that is none too surprising).

While her role is being classified as “mysterious”, we do know that she will play a character named Agatha, a “deceptively warm caretaker who welcomes Big Jim (series regular Dean Norris) into the Chester’s Mill home she’s looking after, (but) it quickly becomes apparent that her intentions are anything but pure”. [Dun, dun, dun!]

Series executive producer Neal Baer had this to share about Winningham’s guest appearance, “I’m thrilled to be working with Mare Winningham on Under the Dome. She’s my good-luck charm: I worked with her on ‘ER’ (and) ‘Law & Order: SVU’. She brings truth and believability to every role, and she will definitely leave viewers talking”.

Winningham was part of the legendary 1980’s “Brat Pack” that included Judd Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, Anthony Michael Hall, Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, and Ally Sheedy, starring in the classic film ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’. Among her other credits film credits are ‘Turner & Hooch’ and ‘Wyatt Earp’ as well as the made-for-TV movies ‘The Magic of Ordinary Days’ and ‘Mildred Pierce’. She has also appeared in episodes of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Torchwood’.

‘Under the Dome’ will air a new episode of its debut season on CBS this Monday, July 8 at 10/9c.
