Aaron Paul and Kate Mara Tapped to Announce 65th Primetime Emmy Award Nominees

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences have chosen two rising stars to announce the 65th Primetime Emmy Nominations. Breaking Bad‘s two-time Emmy Award winner Aaron Paul and Netflix’s House of Cards star Kate Mara have been tapped to announce the nominees live at 5:40 AM PDT on Thursday, July 18, 2013. They will be joined by Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Chairman-CEO, Bruce Rosenblum.

While Paul seems a natural choice since he has two supporting actor statuettes for his role as Jesse Pinkman already and his iconic series is heading into its final run of episodes, Mara is a surprising choice that could indicate that the Academy will be embracing Netflix’s Kevin Spacey-led House of Cards. We’ll just have to wait until July 18th to find out. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a few predictions about whose names Mara and Paul might be calling on the 18th, check out TV Equals’ very own TV Czar’s picks as he works his way through the major categories.

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live coast to coast on CBS on Sunday, September 22nd, from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.
