Royal Pains Season 5 Review “Blythe Spirits” – Haunted Honeymoon

Royal Pains - Season 5 - Blythe Spirits

In this episode of Royal Pains, called “Blythe Spirits,” Evan discovers that his new house isn’t as quiet as it first seems, Divya tries to come to terms with her pregnancy and everyone works together to try and keep HankMed afloat.

So unless I completely missed something, it looked like we really didn’t move forward too much the story of Hank’s drug problem. I kind of expected that to be a huge part of this episode, but I have a feeling they’re going to give it to us in little (pardon the pun) doses throughout the rest of the season. That makes a lot of sense and lets us get back into the rhythm of this normally happy show. I did like that he was able to admit to Evan (and himself) that he wasn’t as strong as he wanted to be. That’s a big step for him.

As for Divya’s story, I had a strong feeling that they were actually going to have her lose the pregnancy. It felt really awful to say it so I didn’t put it in my review last week, but I was very suspicious, especially when I saw her working around the x-ray machine. I have no idea if that’s what they’ll say happened, but somehow it just confirmed my suspicions and I can’t say I was surprised at all when she saw her doctor in the end. So if everything somehow turns out okay with the baby and her tests are wrong or something, that would actually surprise the heck out of me.

Boris, Boris, Boris. Even though he’s not technically back (yet), I feel like we’re very close to seeing him again and Hank finding out that his friend is actually alive. When that happens, I’m sure Hank will not be pleased. Finding out that Dmitry is Boris’ half-brother is intriguing, but I feel like they’re really playing him up as the bad guy (sneaking around the mansion, ordering security tapes erased) so I’m not so sure that I believe it. In fact, I’m almost positive we’ll find out that everything he’s doing is on Boris’ orders.

My favorite bits…

Evan scooting around his massive house and nearly running over Dmitry.

Poor Hank realizing that he couldn’t run as far as he wanted.

Ahhh! What is that bear doing in the …oh, hey Jeremiah.

Hank chatting while Jeremiah was trying to listen to his lungs.

The fact that Jeremiah wasn’t taking any of Hank’s crap during the exam.

“You didn’t just grow a beard on us, you grew some pluck.” – Anyone else think that Hank was going to say something that Jeremiah had grown something else entirely?

Finding out that Hank was famous among the first responders in the area. I guess that shouldn’t really be a surprise. I can just picture them all sitting around sharing stories about his MacGyver doctoring skills.

“The house is over a hundred years old, shouldn’t it be settled by now?”

Evan telling Hank not to overdo it and reassuring him that the Hankies were only a phone call away.

“The thing is, every time I take an x-ray of someone made of steel, I never see the steel.”

Hank going off on Molly. Whoa.

Shelby telling Hank that she wanted to buy HankMed. Say what now?

Divya’s little speech about the buy-out totally being about her pregnancy.

“I know the feeling. Doctors aren’t allowed to get sick either.”

“If you tell me I’m pregnant, we’re both in trouble.”

Evan and Paige getting chased by a bunch of little dogs.

“Hello? Dmitry? Boris? Zombie-Boris?”

“Shaggy saw a ghost.”

Evan pointing out that if anyone could be a ghost, it would be Boris.

“I think he’s offended you don’t believe he’s haunting the place.”

A patient racing through the door just as Evan was reassuring everyone at the party that that would never happen.

The look on Divya’s face when Hank said that a kidney stone hurt worse than childbirth. Having had a kidney stone, I can attest to that sad fact.

So happy that Divya apologized to Paige. Those two ladies need each other.

“I am sure I’m going to talk your ear off once I get my head together.”

The look on Hank’s face when he heard Boris’ voice.

Hank jogging while Evan rode his scooter thing.

“You’re out of shape AND you admitted it?” – I was just as shocked as Evan.

Hank stopping Evan before he could tell Miss Blythe to suck it.

Jeremiah realizing that he would be going on the trip with Divya.
