Actor Scott Foley Promoted on ‘Scandal’

Scott Foley on Cougar Town

Even though Jake Ballard (aka actor Scott Foley) was – SPOILER ALERT! if you still haven’t gotten caught up – thrown into the same dank and dark underground cell as Huck (series regular Guillermo Diaz) on Scandal it would appear that, somehow, Jake will be getting out of there since Foley has been made a “full-fledged” series regular when the series returns this fall for its third season.

According to TV Line, Foley had this to share about his promotion, “I’m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people. Shonda (Rhimes) and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling”.

As viewers of the show will recall, Foley joined the show last season in the recurring role of the aforementioned Jake Ballard, a Naval Captain who works at the Pentagon in the intelligence department for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who also happens to be a personal friend of the President of the United States; and who began a romantic relationship with Olivia Pope (series lead Kerry Washington).

Among Foley’s TV credits are the critically-acclaimed series ‘Felicity’ and the CBS military-themed drama ‘The Unit’. He also had a recurring role in ‘Scrubs’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Cougar Town’ and ‘True Blood’. He also appeared in the box office film ‘Scream 3’ and the made-for-TV movie ‘The Last Templar’.

‘Scandal’ will be back on ABC for its third season sometime in late September.
