Netflix Heads To Prison With ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Trailer

“I’m scared that I’m not myself in here and I’m scared that I am,” says Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) in the promising trailer for Netflix’s upcoming women’s prison comedy Orange is the New Black from Weeds creator Jenji Kohan .

Based on a memoir by Piper Kerman, the series follows Piper’s transition from happy, engaged New York socialite to prisoner after she’s incarcerated for her involvement with her drug runner ex-girlfriend (That ’70s Show‘s Laura Prepon) 10 years earlier. The trailer’s best moments focus on Piper’s painfully funny reactions to the realities of prison life. At one point she shouts, “I’ve been felt up, stalked and called Taylor Swift; so can you please just cut me some slack!” Elsewhere Piper marvels that she has a prison wife named Crazy Eyes while her fiance (Jason Biggs) compliments her on her “cheekbone-y” look not realizing his future wife is being “starved out”– in other words it’s exactly the sort of dark humor you would expect from the creator of Weeds.

All 13 episodes of Orange is the New Black will be available July 11th exclusively on Netflix.
