Actress Ashley Madekwe Leaving ‘Revenge’

Revenge Season 2 Episode 17 Victory (2)

When the ABC soap opera Revenge returns for its third season at least one regular cast member will not be in The Hamptons any longer (besides the already known departure of Connor Paolo, who played Declan Porter).

According to a report at Deadline, actress Ashley Madekwe, who has played scheming Ashley Davenport since the pilot, will not be returning for the show’s third season this fall. It would seem that her “option was not picked up due to (presumably) storyline reasons”.

Fans may recall, though, that Ashley first started out as a friend of Emily Thorne (series lead Emily VanCamp) and over-worked event planner for ice queen Victoria Grayson (series lead Madeleine Stowe); but changed her stripes quickly becoming more of a frenemy of Emily and a consort (of sorts) to both Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny) and his son Daniel (Josh Bowman). Over the course of the latter episodes of the recently finished, rather lackluster second season, Ashley became Conrad’s assistant and handled publicity for his political campaign. But, as shown in the season finale, [SPOILER ALERT!] Conrad won the election and will probably, given Madekwe’s departure news, boot little ole Ashley to the curb.

Among Madekwe’s more recent credits include the short-lived series The Beautiful Life: TBL, a recurring role in ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ and a series regular role in one season of the UK series ‘Bedlam’.

‘Revenge’ will be back for its third season on ABC sometime this fall with new showrunner Sunil Nayar taking over for recently departed series creator Mike Kelley.
