CBS Orders ‘Bad Teacher’ To Series

It appears CBS wasn’t quite finished picking up new shows for the 2013-2014 television season: today the network greenlit the half-hour comedy Bad Teacher.

Based on the hit Cameron Diaz film, Bad Teacher stars Ari Graynor (The Sopranos) as a bawdy career trophy wife who uses her teaching gig as a way to find her next wealthy husband. The series marks the third single camera sitcom that CBS, which typically favors traditional multi-camera comedies, has picked up this season. The other two were the Robin Williams/Sarah Michelle Gellar vehicle The Crazy Ones and We Are Men.

In addition to Graynor, Bad Teacher also stars Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars), Sara Gilbert (Roseanne), Kristin Davis (Sex and the City) and David Alan Grier (In Living Color). Although it has not been confirmed by CBS, Bad Teacher will likely be held back for midseason.
