‘The Carrie Diaries’ Teases Samantha Jones For Season 2

The CW Network’s The Carrie Diaries has announced their plans to introduce a younger version of Samantha Jones in their sophomore season. According to TV Line, the show has yet to cast the role with ‘The Carrie Diaries’ title star AnnaSophia Robb thrilled over the news.

“I’m really, really excited,” Robb said while speaking at the CW’s upfront presentation. ”I had to keep it a secret, but I think it’s going to be so much fun. I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.”

In HBO’s ‘Sex and The City’ Kim Catrall played the role of Jones. She is the character best known to fans as the wild on unbashful best friend of Carrie Bradshaw. the show plans to welcome the young Samantha into the fold as the cousin of the mean Donna LaDonna, showing fans how Carrie and Samantha first met.

A mention of Carrie’s other Best friend, Stanford Blatch, was also mentioned in the season one finale. The role of Blatch has also yet to be cast. After moving ‘The Carrie Diaries’ to Friday nights it looks as though the CW is in the hopes of turning the show and its ratings around with the sophomore season.
