Actress Sarah Shahi Promoted to Series Regular on ‘Person of Interest’

When the USA Network drama ‘Fairly Legal’ came to a close last summer, actress Sarah Shahi wasted no time landed other gigs. One guest role in particular, that really caught the attention of TV viewers, was that of mysterious operative Samantha Shaw on Person of Interest. And now she’ll get to play that role a bit longer because she has been promoted to full-time status on the series.

Shahi, in the guise of Shaw, has appeared in four episodes of the hit CBS drama this past TV season alongside series regular Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson in a role that even the actress has admitted is one that she “(hasn’t) played before”. As those who have watched the show know, Shaw “tracks (down) and eliminates terrorists before they act” not unlike what Mr. Reese (Caviezel) and Mr. Finch (Emerson) do on the show each week.

In addition, this fall ‘Person of Interest’ will be moving to a new night and time – that of Tuesdays at 10/9c on CBS, taking over a time slot that has seen recently defunct shows such as ‘Vegas’ and ‘Golden Boy’ (sadly) crash and burn. But fans should take heart that since ‘Person of Interest’ averages over 15 million viewers each week, they will not have difficulty in that new timeslot.

Besides her work on ‘Fairly Legal’, TV viewers will recognize Shahi from her work in the recent box office film ‘Bullet to the Head’ alongside Sylvester Stallone as well as her recent recurring role on ‘Chicago Fire’. She was also a regular on the short-lived but critically acclaimed drama ‘Life’ (alongside ‘Homeland’ actor Damian Lewis) and a recurring role on ‘The L Word’.

‘Person of Interest’ just aired its second season finale this past Thursday on CBS and will be back in September with new episodes.
