‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Adds Angela Bassett & Patti LuPone

American Horror Story: Coven has cast veteran performers, Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone. According to TV Line,Murphy announced the news on his Twitter page over the weekend. “Two legends are joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven — Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and Tony winner Patti LuPone.”

Bassett and LuPone’s roles are unknown with Murphy staying tight lipped about how the actresses will play into the third season that will involve a witch’s themed storyline and other horrors. The ladies are the latest to join ‘Coven’. The series just booked The Big C’s Gabourey Sidibe, who will also play a mysterious role alongside this season’s cast of Lily Rabe (All Good Things), Sarah Paulson (Serenity), Evan Peters (Kick-Ass), Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under), Taissa Farmiga (The Bling Ring) and veteran performer Kathy Bates (Misery).

Bassett recently appeared in the thriller ‘Olympus Has Fallen’, ‘Betty and Coretta’, ‘This Means War’, ‘Rogue’, ‘Green Lantern’, among others. LuPone, who has been busy with several theater productions, has been seen in 2013’s ‘Parker’, the Lifetime series ‘Army Wives’, ’30 Rock’, ‘Company’, ‘Ugly Betty’ and ‘Oz’ the series.
