‘CSI: NY,’ ‘Vegas,’ ‘Golden Boy’ and ‘Rules of Engagement’ Cancelled by CBS

CSI: NY Season 9 Episode 15 Seth and Apep (6)

TV Line broke the news Friday that CBS has cancelled CSI: NY, Rules of Engagement, Vegas and Golden Boy.

The cancellation of CSI: NY means CBS will be back down to just the original CSI on-air next season now that both of the franchise’s spin-offs have left the air. Meanwhile, longtime CBS time-slot pinch hitter Rules of Engagement will end its seven season run on Monday, May 20th. The ’60s set Vegas and the Greg Berlanti produced Golden Boy were both freshman series that struggled to meet CBS’s ratings standards this year.

While the cancellations are frustrating for fans of these four series, overall CBS handed out far fewer pink slips than the other three major networks, and ended up renewing 20 series in total for the 2013-2014 television season including The Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds and Elementary.

CBS will announce their complete 2013-2014 schedule Wednesday, May 15th at their annual upfront presentation.
