ABC Unleashes First ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Teaser

ABC gave viewers their first look at the highly anticipated and just picked up for next season Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. during Sunday’s season finale of Once Upon a Time, and now the action packed teaser featuring cameos by The Hulk, Cap’s shield and Thor’s beloved Mjölnir has made its way online.

As those heroic cameos suggest, ABC isn’t shying away from the series’ connection to last summer’s blockbuster The Avengers. The most definitely not dead Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) sums up the way the series will fit into the established franchise thusly: “We work the cases S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t classified. The strange, the unknown– it’s not just spy versus spy anymore; the whole world is in on the action.” Then he reminds us that S.H.I.E.L.D. is also a family Whedon operation by offering up a well-timed quip about his car.

The Avengers‘ director and Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon is behind Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but at the series’ helm are Whedon’s brother and sister-in-law Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse). In addition to Gregg, the series also stars Brett Dalton (Killing Lincoln) Ming-Na (ER), Iain De Caestecker (The Fades), Elizabeth Henstridge (Hollyoaks) and Chloe Bennet (Nashville). S.H.I.E.L.D. will primarily focus on the normal, non-superpowered people who are working together to protect the world from all manner of villains.
