In a major addition to its primetime scripted line-up, Syfy recently announced it will be teaming with Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx (‘Ray’ and ‘Django Unchained’), through his Foxxhole Productions, to executive produce, write and direct a five-episode horror anthology series that is set to premiere at Halloween this year. The anthology is yet to be titled, but it will be in the vein of classic TV shows like ‘Tales From the Crypt’ and ‘The Twilight Zone’. The cabler has revealed that the series will be a contemporary half-hour series that will tell creepy morality tales with themes such as envy, jealousy and superficiality.

The Academy Award winner had this to say about the upcoming project, “This is a project that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m so happy to see it come to life. Get ready to lose it when some special friends and I bring the scares this October, and who knows…maybe I’ll make a guest appearance or two along the way”!

Mark Stern, who is President of Original Content at Syfy and Co-Head of Original Content at Universal Cable Productions, which will produce the series, had this to share, “We couldn’t be more excited to work with someone as talented and multifaceted as Jamie Foxx. His passion and unique perspective will transform these universal insights on the human condition into emotionally potent and truly scary cautionary tales”.

The other creative minds behind this new anthology series will include executive producer Troy Miller (‘Flight of the Conchords’) and writers Mike Ferris (‘Terminator: Salvation’) and John Pogue (‘Army Wives’ and ‘Everwood’). Writer Jeff Stilson, Jaime King and Julie Yorn will also serve as executive producers.

Fans of horror anthologies should mark their calendars for Halloween for this special partnership between Syfy and Jamie Foxx.
