Hart of Dixie Season 2 Review “Why Don’t We Get Drunk” – Partner Switch

Hart Of Dixie Season 2 Episode 17 Why Don’t We Get Drunk (7)
Anyone who hoped that any possibility of Zoe and George getting together had been totally squashed must have surely been disappointed by “Why Don’t We Get Drunk,” this week’s episode of Hart of Dixie. Not only are Zoe and Wade really, really over, but George is showing a lot more concern for who Zoe dates than a man with a pretty blonde girlfriend ought to, and as if to make this palatable to the audience, it now seems like we’re supposed to think that Tansy might be just a tad bit too jealous to deserve George’s fidelity. I gotta admit that this is one of the reasons why I love this show: there have always been too many relationship combinations for anyone to say (with any real certainty, although faithful camps have sprung up) that any one particular pairing is the One True Pairing.

Ever on the hunt for tourist dollars, Lavon dubbed Bluebell the latest, greatest spot for spring break, thus bringing hoards of drunk college kids to the sleepy little town. Zoe never had a spring break, so under the influence of Brick’s doctor nephew, she decided to try it out. George didn’t like it, but it wasn’t clear at first if he didn’t like it because he still wants Zoe or if he just didn’t want the younger Breeland doctor to win another prize. Eventually it became clear to everyone that Tansy’s charms haven’t completely turned George’s head away from Zoe, and with Wade out of the picture, this pairing might be given an actual chance.

Meanwhile, Ruby showed up in town, claiming she wanted Lavon back, which understandably upset poor Annabeth. Fortunately, not only did Lavon turn down Ruby in favor of Annabeth, but seeing her best friend so upset about Ruby made Lemon realize how selfish she was being by not “allowing” Annabeth to be with Lavon. With her BFF’s blessing, Annabeth made her way back into Lavon’s arms.

On the other side of town, the Rammer Jammer went up for sale, and both Wade and Lemon decided they wanted it, and that the only way to get the money to buy it would be to put their hands on a boat and wait to see who could hold on the longest. In the end, they both gave up at the same time (Lemon to be by Brick’s side, and Wade because he’s a decent guy deep down), and since they both won, they reluctantly decided to pool their winnings and buy the bar together. I don’t know…I kind of think I smell a brand new pairing. What do you think?

As for why Lemon needed to be at her father’s side, after he started to show some frightening symptoms, Zoe and his nephew convinced him to get an MRI, to check for brain tumors. Although he claimed, to everyone’s relief, that the scan was clean, I deeply suspect he was lying, and that it will soon be revealed that he has something life-threatening.
