NCIS Season 10 Review “Chasing Ghosts” – Tony Finally Finds out the Truth About Ziva

NCIS - Chasing Ghosts

In this episode of NCIS, called “Chasing Ghosts,” the team searches for a man who is missing from his home, while Tony is convinced that something is up with Ziva.

Okay, so I have to say I really don’t know how to feel about this episode. Ziva’s not my favorite character and I don’t stomach Tiva stuff too well, so there were some moments that made me want to cringe a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Ziva, but I just don’t like the way she’s written sometimes.

But, truth be told, the episodes where she lost her father and went through that grieving process were some of my favorites. I actually liked seeing that softer side of her. Tonight’s episode gave us the Ziva we’re more used to seeing – the one that seeks revenge.

What I didn’t enjoy about this episode at first was the fact that the whole storyline with Ziva and Tony just plain reeked of the end of season 6. It was like going back in time to those finale episodes of that season: Ziva is keeping secrets, Tony is convinced there’s something wrong, McGee thinks Tony is crazy and Gibbs seems to be mostly ignoring the whole thing. The only thing that finally somewhat saved the story for me was in the end when they revealed that McGee was in on it and Gibbs knew all along. The moment that they turned her hunt into a team thing, I was way more on board. So now I must admit that I am a wee bit excited to see what happens in the next episode. I am less excited about the fact that we have to wait two weeks to see it though. Sneaky show; making us wait like that.

My favorite bits…

“Oh, she’s been off? That’s a good one.”

New McNickname – McHelen Keller

“It’s called being a good citizen.”
“No, it’s called borderline stalking. What’s next? A Ziva cam?
“Maybe, let’s put a pin in that.”

The image of Tony talking to the neighbor over the picket fence. Such a classic image. I loved that they used it.

Callie begging Ziva to tell her that it wasn’t really happening.

Getting a very bad feeling when McGee saw blood on the trash can.

“Where’s the rest of him?”

Palmer asking Ducky to tag in.

Ducky providing yet another fun-fact. I didn’t know that about the wedding ring finger.

The devastated look on Palmer’s face when Ducky said the work was out of his reach.

“I appreciate you throwing me a bone every once in a while — or in this case a finger.”

Palmer demanding Ducky to let him help. Yeah! Go Palmer!

“Ten years, just enough time to start hating each other.” – Ouch! But, nice headslap Gibbs.

“Mercury’s in retrograde, just so you know.” – The absolute serious way she said that was awesome.

Abby manhandling Gibbs around the mock-up she made of the living room.

Gibbs giving Abby a kiss for finding a second blood type.

McGee catching Tony snooping in Ziva’s desk. Again. WTH? Did we just time travel to season 6?

Ziva and Tony talking about Callie, but really talking about Ziva.

Ziva asking Tony not to go there. Yeah right, like that’s going to stop him.

Kind of getting a kick out of Ducky and Palmer working together in their civilian clothes. Nice to see them both out of scrubs every once in a while.

Gibbs staring at Ziva when she said that they needed to keep going until they found Noah.

“So I guess the note was meant to throw us off.”
“You catch up fast, McGee.”

“Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs!”
“Sounds like Abby had a breakthrough.”

Thinking that Gibbs just might throw Noah through a window when they found him on that bus.

Gibbs ordering Tony to go home, then asking him if he was going to keep clicking his pen.

“You worried about her? Then go find her DiNozzo. NOW.” – In retrospect, I have to wonder if Gibbs sent Tony on his way to see if Ziva was ready to tell him the truth.

Tony going to Abby for help with finding Ziva.

Ziva opening the door with a gun.

WHOA! McGee was with Ziva?? I soooooo did not see that coming.

“No, this is all off the books.”
“Oh good, ’cause that makes it ten times worse.”

“Bodnar’s not dead. He’s alive. And I’m not going to stop until I find him.”

Everyone staring at Gibbs. You don’t have to be Gibbs to know something was up.

Oh please, OF COURSE Gibbs knew. Gibbs knows all.

Gibbs telling Ziva that she needed to be ready to tell him and then ordering her to take Tony. Oh boy!
