‘Bates Motel’ Season 2 Announced

The freshman thriller Bates Motel has already managed to secure a second season after debuting just weeks ago. Bob DeBitetto, President and General Manager of A&E Network and BIO Channel, made the official announcement. “Bates Motel’ has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal audience in its first few weeks,” said DeBitetto. “With superb writing and exceptional acting, led by the critically acclaimed performances of Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, we’re incredibly excited to see where Carlton and Kerry take Norma and Norman Bates next.”

The A&E series follows Vera Farmiga (The Departed) as the mother, Norma, of Freddie Highmore’s (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) Norman Bates in his younger years. The show explores the duo’s relationship and the town of White Pine Bay, a mysterious place they just moved to following the death of Norman’s father. ‘Bates Motel’ also includes a cast line-up of Max Thieriot (Disconnect), Olivia Cooke (Blackout), Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender) and Nestor Carbonell (The Dark Knight Rises).

The show comes from creator Anthony Cipriano (Twelve and Holding). Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin both serve as executive producers of the show that comes from Universal Television for A&E Network. Season two of ‘Bates Motel’ will kick-off pre-production later this year on ten new episodes slated to premiere in 2014.
