Actress Katey Sagal To Appear on ‘Glee’

In a casting announcement over at E! Online, that will, probably, come as a surprise to fans of the FOX musicomedy Glee, actress Katey Sagal, who has spent the past six seasons on the gritty FX drama ‘Sons of Anarchy’, will be (somewhat) returning to her comedy roots by appearing as….wait for it….Artie’s mom.

The news, in fact, broke at Twitter last night by none other than series creator Ryan Murphy, who had this to share:

“So thrilled to announce my friend Katey Sagal is playing Artie’s mom on Glee! There is nothing this woman can’t do”!

In a follow-up response at Twitter, actor Kevin McHale, who plays Artie, simply said “Wooo”!

It would seem that McHale was being a bit prophethic last July at Comic Con when he shared that he hoped Sagal would play his character’s mom – and that he hoped singer-actor Harry Connick, Jr. would play his dad. There are no details on who – if anyone – will play Artie’s dad, though.

Sagal, who is also known for her long-running turn as Peggy Bundy on ‘Married with Children’ as well as appearances on ‘8 Simple Rules’, ‘Eli Stone’, ‘Lost’, and providing her voice to ‘Futurama’, will appear in the upcoming Steve Wonder-themed episode entitled “Wonder-ful”.

The next new episode of the fourth season of ‘Glee’ is expected to air on FOX on Thursday, April 11 at 9/8c.
