‘The Killing’ Returns to AMC with Two-Hour Premiere in June

The Killing AMC Detectives Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) and Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos)

The AMC series The Killing that aired on the network for two seasons but then was canceled only to make a remarkable return to the very network that axed it will be back for season three on Sunday, June 2 with a two-hour premiere episode.

The new season will begin one year after the close of the “Rosie Larsen” case (the focus of the series’ first two seasons) with Sarah Linden (series lead Mireille Enos) no longer working as a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder’s (series lead Joel Kinnaman) search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she’d left behind.

The cast of the third season will also include Peter Sarsgaard (‘An Education’), Elias Koteas (‘Combat Hospital’) and Amy Seimetz (‘Tiny Furniture’). The series will, once again, be executive produced by series creator Veena Sud, who had this to say about the show’s return to AMC, “I am grateful to AMC, Fox TV Studios and Netflix for their commitment to the show and their efforts in bringing ‘The Killing’ back to air. I’m also thrilled to be working with our incredible writing team as we continue to explore the lives of ‘Sarah’ and ‘Holder,’ who, like so many real-life detectives, grapple with the consequences to their own lives of a no-holds-barred immersion in the world of a homicide investigation”.

So, mark your calendars for the two-hour third season premiere of ‘The Killing’ to air on AMC on June 2 at 8/7c.
