Last year, FX announced that it will be producing mini-series and limited series through FX Productions; and the first product ordered is an adaptation of the box office film Fargo.

The TV series will be adapted by novelist and writer Noah Hawley (‘My Generation’ and ‘Unususals’) with Warren Littlefield and Joel & Ethan Coen serving as executive producers.

‘Fargo’ was released in 1996 and focused on a wildly unique blend of comedy, drama and thriller that starred Frances McDormand as a pregnant Minnesota police chief pursuing two bumbling criminals hired by a car salesman to kidnap his wife. The limited series ‘Fargo’ has a 10-episode order and it will follow an all-new “true crime” story with a new case and new set of characters, all entrenched in the trademark humor, murder and “Minnesota nice” that has made the film an enduring classic.

Production on ‘Fargo’ will begin this fall with the series slated to premiere next spring on FX.
